Women and Song

The other night I attended a night of women and song. Musimums, that is mums who have children learning music, gathered together for a bit of R and R, and singing.

There were macaroons, cheese and yummy delights as well as a couple of glasses of wine.

The singing terrified me but in a group of 35 other women, I felt quite safe.
We sung in harmony and worked together as a group and by the end of the night, even though I'm no singer, I thought we sounded fabulous!

We sung Throw Your Arms Around Me by Australian band Hunters and Collectors. Do you know it? It's one of my favourites.

Then afterwards we played a music quiz. Keeping with the theme, we had to name the women's names in songs we listened to and the singer or band who sung it.

Thanks to the girl I was partnered with, we finished second - her music knowledge was amazing!

So it got me thinking, are there any songs out there named after me? I
found a couple: Clair by Irish singer Gilbert O'Sullivan and Planet Claire by
The B-52s.

What about you? Do you have a song named after you? Is a favourite, or do you cringe every time you hear it?

I think I would love to be named Valerie after Amy Winehouse's version of it - how special would that be?

Family Fun Day

Hello friends,
We have list of places that we have been meaning to visit for years and today we finally ticked off Morgan's Lookout.
Daniel Morgan was a bushranger in the 1860s and he used the lookout to evade capture from the troopers.

It was very impressive view and made me wonder how he managed to climb these giant rocks.
But with all our modern conveniences, I often wonder how people got by in past eras.
Luckily for us, there was a set of stairs - but that still had my knees knocking.

Plenty of nooks and crannies to get lost in and for the boys to explore - no wonder Morgan loved his lookout. Plenty of fun and adventure to be had here.
